Dr. Kira Fenton

Meet Dr. Fenton

Dr. Kira Fenton is a board certified physician practicing internal medicine with a focal emphasis on bariatric medicine.  She is board eligible by the American Board of Obesity Medicine to pursue specialty treatment of both internal medicine and bariatric medicine patients within a private practice setting.
Dr. Fenton's interest in treatment of Bariatric patients was triggered by the direct correlation of chronic illnesses such as hypertension, hyperlipidemia, diabetes mellitus, obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), gastrointestinal reflux disease, and joint pain to obesity and uncontrolled weight management.  This imperative need for care requires prevention of Obesity; the cause of such diseases, rather than the detrimental results and bodily harm it results in.  Hence, Dr. Fenton's approach is proactive to stop such illnesses from occurring, rather than reactive after they have already occurred.  However, while Dr. Fenton thrives at treating these associated comorbidities as well, she has found that by treating obesity, these other diseases and their associated medications are significantly reduced and/or cured.  Dr. Fenton's philosophy highlights obesity as a complex chronic disease that can be managed and treated with individualized comprehensive care tailored to each patient's unique situation.
In addition, Dr. Fenton provides an educational perspective to her patients by reviewing nutrition and physical activity in order to give optimal care to both surgical and nonsurgical. She excels in patient management both before and after a patient undergoes surgery to ensure that they are positioned to receive the best possible outcome. This comprehensive, systemic prevention of obesity allows patients to ultimately improve the quality of their lives.
"It's not about the pounds lost, but about the health gained." is the motto that Dr. Fenton not only says, but demonstrates daily for her patients while practicing bariatric medicine.
